Publication Ethics


Osmania Journal of International Business Studies (OJIBS) is a double blind Peer - Reviewed refereed Journal. OJIBS understands the importance of publication of research paper(s) . OJIBS establishes Publication standards of ethical behavior of concern parties involved in the Publication process such as the authors, the peer review experts, the editors, editorial Board members, readers, owners of Journal and the publisher. OJIBS encourages intellectual honesty and follows publication Ethics and it prevents misconduct, conflicts of interest, fabrication, falsification, redundant publication. These guidelines drawn from Committee On Publication Ethics (COPE).

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

Authors should submit original research papers for publication. A research paper should contain sufficient content, research gap, importance of the study, objectives, research methodology, sources of data, data interpretation, findings, conclusions and suggestions and references.

Authors are sole responsible for recognizing and disclosing any conflicts of interest.

Authors must take the public responsibility for the content of the paper.

Author(s) should declare that the work has not been published before and is not consideration elsewhere.

Author (s) should not breach the copy rights of others.

Co-authors and authorities of respective institutes/organizations must be approved for publication of manuscript.

Authors should check up plagiarism and they must be appropriately quoted and cited the earlier studies.

Author(s) are responsible to provide the raw data in connection with editorial review and should retain the data for a reasonable time even after publication of the paper for cross verification, if necessary.

Finally, Author (s) should acknowledge the funding agency at the end of the article.

DUTIES OF EDITORS

The Editor-in –Chief and Executive Editor of OJIBS are solely and independently responsible for deciding to publish or not to publish the article(s) which are submitted for publication in the Journal.

Editor will accept the paper(s) for publication after undergoing double blind peer review.

Executive Editorial Board may guide the Editor-in- Chief and Executive Editor in case of legal, Copy right infringement and plagiarism. However, editors have to follow peer review, fair play, confidentiality and disclosure of conflicts of interest.

The editor shall ensure that the peer Review process is fair, unbiased, and timely.

Minimum two external and independent reviewers are asked to review the papers; if necessary the editor can also seek some additional classification or opinions from subject experts.

Editor should select eminent personality in the relevant field

Editor should follow the best practices in avoiding the selection of fraudulent peer reviewers.

The editor should evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, merit without identifying the author’s race, gender, religious, belief, ethnic origin, designation, citizenship and political affiliation.

The editor should establish a transparent mechanism of peer review process of the paper and final outcome.

The editor must protect the confidentiality of all papers submitted for publication and all communication with reviewers. Unpublished papers must be returned or informed to the authors and the material must not be used in an editor’s own work. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer reviews must be kept confidential and not to be used for personal advantage.

The Editor will disclose any potential conflict of interest related to the journal. They will not influence the authors at any mode.

The editor should safe guard of the published, publishing and unpublished work in concurrence with the motto of the publisher.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

Double peer review assists the editor to take appropriate decision to publish a paper and editorial communication with the author may also assist the author to improve the paper quality.

Reviewers must be maintained the confidentiality of the received manuscripts for review and not to share the review outcomes or information with the author directly without permission from the editors.

Reviewers must not disclose the unpublished materials privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review process and must be kept confidential and not used as personal ideas.

Reviewers should conduct reviews objectively and timely

Reviewers can make their comments clearly with supporting critical analysis and documental evidences.

Reviewers should bring to the notice to the editor regarding similar paper previously reported elsewhere.

Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflict of interest resulting integrity of the stakeholders.

DUTIES OF PUBLISHER

The Department of Commerce, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana State, India has been publishing the OJIBS since 2006 bi-annually in English only.

The publisher should support the enormous efforts of the editors, Peer reviewers and has to encourage the authors.

The publisher has a supporting role in the scholarly communication, printing process and distributing the journal copies to the authors, and subscribers and retaining the old issues.

The publisher should work with other related association to set standards for best practices on ethical matters, errors and retractions.

The publisher should promote best practices by offering editorial membership, new reviewers.

The publisher should create awareness on publishing ethics, standards and counsel the relevant parties, if necessary.

PLAGIARISM

OJIBS doesn’t allow any form of plagiarism and aims to identify and reject the material which contains plagiarism. OJIBS sought expert opinions in order to identify and prevent the plagiarism. As per the University Grants Commission guidelines, OJIBS uses the iThenticate software to identify any form of plagiarism. Authors are responsible for final version of their manuscript which doesn’t contain any element of plagiarism and is free from any conflicts of interest and in case, if it contains, author are legally liable.


FABRICATION AND FALSIFICATION

OJIBS doesn’t allow research fraud refers to publication of result and drawing conclusion from the data that are not generated from the study (Fabrication) or generated by manipulating the original data according to researchers convenient (Falsification). OJIBS extremely serious about fabrication and falsification of the data. It is treated as misconduct of the author.


SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSION

OJIBS discourages simultaneous submission of manuscripts. It means, submitting the same manuscript to multiple Journals at the same time. OJIBS obtains a declaration form from authors by stating that the manuscript is original and is not being submitted elsewhere. Author is sole responsible for breaching the publication ethics.


DUPLICATE PUBLICATION

OJIBS considers as plagiarism, if author submits the manuscript with same data, discussion points, hypotheses and with same conclusion. OJIBS defines as a major offence such as by changing title of the paper, author name, authors order etc., It is also considered as redundancy. So Authors must refrain from such misconduct and recognize as unethical behavior.


COPY RIGHTS

All published manuscripts become the legal copy rights of OJIBS. At the moment of accepting to publish a paper, the author(s) rights are to be transferred to OJIBS unless otherwise agreed in writing. Authors should agree to transfer the copy rights at the time of submitting the manuscripts, if they breach, they need to be exposed to legal obligations.
